What this dataset contains
The Department of Census and Statistics publishes the Colombo Consumer Price Index for urban areas of Colombo District. The platform keeps headline and core index levels plus the published month-on-month, year-on-year and 12-month-average rates. Core excludes volatile food, energy and transport.
How it is used here
The chart follows headline year-on-year inflation from February 2023, the first month the source table reports that rate. The table retains the index levels and the earlier months.
What it cannot tell you
This is a Colombo urban index, not a national CPI. Year-on-year rates are absent at the start of the 2021=100 series; those fields are null rather than inferred.
