What this dataset contains
DCS figures for all 25 districts and the national total in 2024. The table distinguishes new residential buildings, new non-residential buildings, and additions or alterations. Each category has a building count and floor space in square feet.
How it is used here
Compare districts by the number of new residential buildings or by new non-residential floor space. Keep the three construction categories and their units separate.
What it cannot tell you
This is one year of reported construction, not the stock of all buildings, housing units or a register of planning approvals. Additions and alterations affect existing buildings and cannot be added to new construction as a count of new buildings. District totals do not locate projects or establish their occupancy, value or legal status. Four non-residential floor-space figures have misplaced commas in the PDF; their digits are retained with reviewed grouping and the original tokens remain attached to the observations.
