What this dataset contains

The 2024 census reports the share of households using 13 types of communications equipment, internet facilities and vehicles. The table covers Sri Lanka and the urban, estate-urban, rural and estate-rural sectors. Equipment includes phones, computers, radio, television, bicycles, motorcycles or scooters, and three-wheelers.

How it is used here

Compare household internet-facility use by sector, examine national communications-equipment use, or compare household use of the three named vehicle categories.

What it cannot tell you

The census measures use regardless of ownership. These figures are neither device counts nor subscriptions, individual internet-use rates, registered vehicle stocks or measures of connection quality. Households can use several types of equipment, so categories are not additive. Sector shares use different household denominators; the national figure overlaps the four sectors. Other is left as the source’s unspecified category. Percentages are rounded to one decimal place.
