What this dataset contains
The explorer paints each district by percent change between Census 2012 counts and Census 2024 Person-Sex totals joined on the same district identifiers. District match is 100 percent. Every district grew.
How it is used here
Open the live map to compare growth across the island. A ranking table of the same 25 districts is published as a separate dataset.
What it cannot tell you
This is district grain only. Divisional Secretariat and Grama Niladhari comparisons across 2012 and 2024 are misleading where those codes were recoded. The colour scale shows how much each district grew, not growth versus decline. 2012 totals come from the gig-data geometries and differ from Final Report Table 6.1.11 in four districts; 2024 totals match the identity tables.
